FAQ – HELLO SHADE

FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do the sleeves really protect you from the sun?
Yes. HELLO SHADE® sleeves are made from UPF 50+ fabric that blocks 98% of UVA and UVB rays. They provide consistent protection whenever you wear them, without the need for reapplication.

Will the UPF protection wash out over time?
No. HELLO SHADE® sleeves do not rely on chemical treatments for sun protection. The UPF 50+ protection is built into the fabric itself and will retain its UPF efficacy throughout the life of the product with normal wear and care.

Will the sleeves feel hot?
No. HELLO SHADE® sleeves are made from lightweight, breathable fabric designed for warm-weather wear. Many customers find them more comfortable than wearing a long-sleeve shirt in the sun. The sleeves provide protection without adding bulk, making them ideal for driving, walking, sports, gardening, and everyday activities.

How do I wash them?
Machine wash cold. Hang dry or tumble dry low. Do not iron.

Can I get them wet?
Absolutely. HELLO SHADE® sleeves can be worn at the beach, by the pool, while boating, golfing, gardening, exercising, or during any outdoor activity. They maintain their shape and performance when wet and dry quickly.

How does the adjustable toggle work?
The gold toggle allows you to customize the fit around your upper arm. Wear the sleeves fully extended for maximum coverage or scrunch them down for a more relaxed look. The toggle also helps prevent the sleeves from sliding down throughout the day.

Are they really one size?
The adjustable toggle and 4-way stretch fabric allow the sleeves to comfortably fit a wide range of arm sizes and body types.

I'm petite. Which sleeves would fit me best?
Our Almost Naked sleeves are made from a smooth, lightweight fabric with a slightly more streamlined fit that many petite customers love.

I'm curvier or have fuller arms. Which sleeves would fit me best?
Our ribbed styles, including Rosé All Day, offer extra stretch and flexibility, making them especially comfortable for customers with fuller arms.

Why don't the sleeves cover the fingers?
We intentionally designed HELLO SHADE® sleeves without finger coverage because we wanted them to be versatile enough to wear everywhere—not just while driving. The fingerless design makes them comfortable for everyday wear, sports, shopping, dining, texting, and running errands while still protecting the areas most exposed to UV damage.

Can I wear them with short sleeves and long sleeves?
Yes. Wear them with tank tops and short sleeves for full arm protection, or pair them with long sleeves when you want additional protection for your hands. The adjustable design also allows you to wear them scrunched down when you don't need full arm coverage.

Why would I wear sleeves instead of just sunscreen?
We love sunscreen and recommend it. But sleeves provide consistent protection that doesn't need to be reapplied, won't sweat off, and protects your skin every minute you're wearing them. Think of HELLO SHADE® as another layer in your sun protection routine.

What makes HELLO SHADE® different from cheaper sleeves?
HELLO SHADE® sleeves were designed to combine fashion, comfort, and sun protection in one product.

• Adjustable gold toggle for a customizable fit
• Helps prevent sleeves from sliding down
• Premium ribbed fabric not commonly found in traditional sun sleeves
• UPF 50+ protection built into the fabric itself - not chemically treated like cheaper versions
• Wear extended or scrunched depending on your outfit
• Designed for everyday life, not just sports
• Handmade in California, USA in small batches
• Stylish enough to complement your outfit while protecting your skin

Most inexpensive sleeves are designed primarily for athletic use and use chemical treatments to provide UV protection. HELLO SHADE® sleeves have UV built into the fabric and were created to seamlessly fit into your everyday lifestyle.
